Hands (promo)
Jewel
iTunes/AAC/256 kbps

"Hands", was the lead single from Jewel's sophomore album, "Spirit" (1998).  The song discusses how the smallest decisions can have the power to bring on change, it was one of the last songs written during the "Spirit" sessions.

"Hands" was serviced to US radio in early Autumn 1998 and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, the single did not receive a commercial release in the USA.  The song regained popularity within the USA following the 9/11 terrorist attacks when a local disco jockey remixed the single to include soundbites of news snippets and interviews surrounding the terrorist attacks.  It's important to note that the remix was not commissioned by Jewel's [then] label Atlantic Records, therefore an official release of the remix was never released.

"Hands" was the first single released by Jewel that did not include a re-working of the song's arrangement for radio release.  Jewel's previous singles, "Who Will Save Your Soul", "You Were Meant For Me", "Morning Song", and "Foolish Games" all received significant reworking for radio release.  Promotional CDS of, "Hands", contained an edited version reducing the length of the fade-out only by 10-seconds.  The "radio edit" has never been released commercially for purchase.  The following singles from, "Spirit", "Down So Long", "Jupiter (Swallow the Moon)", "What's Simple is True", and "Life Uncommon", all received a reworking in either arrangement or re-recording.

"Down So Long", was the second single released from her sophomore album, "Spirit" (1998).  "Down So Long" was released to US radio in January 1999, the single peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Adult Top40, 21 on the Billboard Pop Charts, and 59 on the Billboard Hot 100.

For the single release, the song's instrumental arrangement was slightly amplified for radio release.

This Way (promo)
Jewel
iTunes/AAC/256 kbps

"This Way" (2001), is the third single taken from American singer, Jewel's fourth studio album, "This Way" (2001).  The single received a limited release, being released in only a handful of European countries and in the States.  Due to lack of promotion, the single failed to make an impact on radio and failed to chart within the USA.

Like many of Jewel's singles, "This Way" was re-worked for radio release.  The radio cut featured a brand new instrumental arrangement and re-recorded vocals from the singer.  The radio cut of the single did not receive a commercial release (domestically or internationally) and to date, has never been commercially available for purchase.

The promotional single of, "This Way", contains the radio cut and the album version.  I have neglected the album version as it is available on the album.
